Golf gift questions, answered
What is a good golf gift for a golfer who has everything?
Something personal or something he uses up: balls printed with his initials in the model he already plays, a custom ball marker, or a putting mat if he practices at home.
Are putting mats worth it as a gift?
For a golfer who will leave one rolled out, owners say yes: short daily sessions are where a mat earns its keep. Match the length to the room before you buy.
Pro V1 or Pro V1x: which should I personalize?
Match the ball already in his bag. If you can't find out, Titleist describes the Pro V1 as the softer of the two, and the Pro V1x as the higher-flying ball with more spin on iron shots.
What does the stimp number on a putting mat mean?
It is green speed: how many feet a ball rolls after leaving a standard ramp called a Stimpmeter. Higher is faster. Mat makers usually state a range, because the floor under the mat changes it.
Why don't you show prices?
Store prices change too often to print. Each pick links to the store, where you see today's price, and our guides are sorted by the golfer instead of by budget.
